On Ebay the item was going for about 100 dollars (which is WAY too much, ladies and gents). Through a lucky search on the Kinokuniya online bookstore I found that one of the stores still had the item (and for, with shipping, a little more than 40 dollars)! Later that night I received an email from Kinokuniya telling me they were sold out of the item. At the bottom of the message I noted something about ordering it. I asked them about that (through several emails) and in the end I found out the following things:
- If you special order the item- you will not be charged until they receive the item in store and package it to ship out to you.
- There is no extra charge to have them order the item from Japan especially for you.
- The Kinokuniya customer service is freakin' excellent. Messages were promptly answered.
- Don't do back order, special order it if possible. It will take time though. They stock of the place they order from changes daily.
I am oddly obsessed with cats. When I started to see images of these bags popping up over Tumblr- I had to dig deeper. 
Somewhere along the way I found out they were from a Mori/Dolly Kei brand- Muchacha Achachumu. 
The Muchacha mook (magazine book) is pretty amazing. The inside of the catalog is full of the Spring/Summer season fashions from Muchacha. 
The gift, the reason people buy mooks, is absolutely wonderful. The cat tote is white, huge, and adorable! He comes with a smaller cat, a striped kitty, who has a grumpy face and is meant to be used as a change purse. I think the nicest detail of the mook itself were the pattern/textile pages on the inside of the mook as well as the back of the mook. The cut out and make some kitty masks for yourself was a very cute idea! I absolutely loved seeing it!
Omgsh! You have the amazing cat tote! Ahhh! I really want one! I'd love to look at the mook too, it seems like you have an awesome Japanese mook collection! <3

Ah! Thank you, hun. I will take some pictures or scam some images from the mooks! I actually have another mook that I bought used (she opened the package, didn't even use it, and sold it a few months later). I can post from that as well.

I was wondering if it were possible for you to purchase the bag for me and will reimburse for it.

ReplyDeleteEbay is probably the only place anymore since the website I used is completely out of stock and has been (at least for my country). The best thing to do is stalk Ebay and hope. If Amazon.jp still has them, you can get one and just pay whatever they want you to pay for shipping. It'll still be on the expensive side though. And yes, Amazon in Japan WILL ship to you. It's just really expensive shipping, sadly.

Alright- there are different remakes/knock offs of this bag floating around now. If you look around on blogs/tumblr you might find something about it. The remakes are very close to the real thing and are pretty amazing looking. I suggest searching!
