Swap-Bot: a Kawaii-Filled Wonderland

So, what is "swap-bot"? First off, a swap is a when you give someone something for something else. Swap-bot is dedicated to swapping. It doesn't matter what: stickers, memos, matchboxes, crafts, letters, emails, links to favorite songs, whimsy jars, postcards, handmade goods, loose stationary, felties, altered rolodex cards, candy, etc. And Swap-Bot provides a safe atmosphere for you to share your items with other people and receive something in return!

What is so "kawaii-filled" about Swap-Bot? Well, at any time, there are at least three swaps with a kawaii theme going on publicly. Behind the closed doors of several kawaii-themed groups (some of which have harder to get in requirements compared to others). In these groups, depending on how many you are able to join, that could be another 10-15 kawaii themed swaps to join!

Swap-Bot is filled with a lot of great people who try their hardest to send out good, well put together, well packaged swaps.

What I LOVE about Swap-Bot~!

Great Swaps with Great Hosts: There really are some amazing swaps on Swap-Bot! I have found that some of my favorites are Whimsy Jars, 250 ct. Matchboxes, and simple, to the point sticker flake and memo swaps. A lot of these swaps are hosted by some of the nicest people in kawaii swapping. If you aren't into swapping but you do tumble- you have seen pictures of their swaps. They are reblogged often. P.S. Don't message a popular kawaii swapper about doing a private swap with you until you have been swapping a while. They receive a lot of requests and are a little skeptical when it comes to newer members.

Great Atmosphere: In general, Swap-Bot has a great atmosphere! There are swaps going on all the time and they work for all personalities, likes, and interests! There are many swaps oriented towards new swappers too!

Groups: Once you become well acquainted with swapping, Swap-Bot, and  other swappers there are groups you can join to be with people who, like you, enjoy swapping a certain item (in this case, kawaii).

Swap-Bot does have some negatives though, once you get into it.

Can't Do Certain Swaps Right Away: Look for "noob-friendly" swaps. You might not be able to swap kawaii right away but you will be able to swap something! Stickers (basic scrapbooking brands and the like), letters, emails, etc. It's fun nonetheless!
** Scammers/No-Sender: Once you are able to host a swap, check profiles! Don't let someone in with a bunch of recent ones or a bunch of unrated swaps or someone who hasn't been on Swap-Bot in the last few weeks (if you had a longer wait time for the swap). They could be a scammer or a no-sender. Be aware.

** People-Who-Don't-Read-Swap-Rules: So, you join this totally adorable swap, right? And you send out a bunch of cute items, okay? Well, finally the envelope comes in from your partner and you rip it open. Inside you find fake Sanrio stickers, Winnie the Pooh stickers, and bent memos. The package even lets of a smokey smell (the sender is obviously a smoker or in a smoker's home). What the hell is kawaii about that? It's not. Message them A.S.A.P. and tell them. Be polite, but tell them how unhappy you are with it and how it doesn't meet requirements. You should also message the host of the swap- they will help (most of the time).

Shipping:  Shipping, bubble mailers, envelopes, stamps are all part of a swappers desk or crafting area. Since we ship so much stuff between each other, the amount of money spent on shipping can get up there! I suggest, if you really love sending and recieving items- before you start swapping you should start saving change and stray dollar bills in a change jar. After you get about 35 dollars you should be ready for at least 20 swaps (a few bigger, several smaller). Also, if you are on the cheaper side- sign up for swaps that are for ONLY your country. Shipping in country is cheaper than outside.

** When you receive something that is a bad swap or do not receive items at all there are really sweet people who will "angel" the swap and send you the items you were meant to receive.
